Architecture
I love looking at buildings and seeing the lines, textures and colors in soft focus and from unusual angles. As I travel, I seek out the patterns and abstractions that are found in architecture.
Often the beauty I find was intentionally introduced by the architect, but sometimes it seems to be an accidential surprise created when viewed from a particular perspective or due to an intersting way the light is falling. In either case, I enjoy capturing what I observe.
I put together my favorite images into the slideshow on the right. Click on the image to download and view the slideshow.
Below is a slide of images from Sharanam, an extraordinary building and community project in southern India. Developed and over seen by Trupti Doshi & Jateen Lad, two architects who are working with the Sri Aurobindo Society, Sharanam has been conceived and carried out with the core values of sustainability.
From conception through to completion, the Sharanam project has sought to be ecologically sustainable, while also creating a working relationship with local community members. Part of the goal was to train and empower the community as they built a center that will serve the seven nearby villages. Read more about this visionary project
Tupti Doshi invited me to the site in the summer of 2012 to take pictures. As you will see from the photos, the work was still in process. While it is difficult to capture the feeling of the place, I put together this slide show that I hope will give you a flavor of the magic happening through this powerful and transformative work.
