Slow-Life
Do you feel like life moves too fast? Me too. Here are some things you can do any time to help slow down the pace of life and bring yourself into the moment.
- Take a walk—even a short one—and notice all the things around you. Trees, flowers, birds, buildings, people. Just walk, breathe and notice.
- Sit where you are (at your desk, in your car) and breathe. If it’s safe, close your eyes and breathe deeply—full deep belly breathes. Do this for even a minute and life will come back into balance.
- Draw something—anything. Even if think you can’t draw, it doesn’t matter. Look at something, or imagine something, and draw it.
- Give yourself a hand massage
- Handwrite a letter or post card. Put it in the mailbox today.
- Juggle. If you don’t know how, learn. Juggling for even just a little while will help you think more clearly.
- Hug someone for more than two seconds. Hug for a long moment. Hug for a whole minute. Ask permission first.
- Use chopsticks to eat. They will slow you down and help you appreciate each bite.
- Look at something beautiful. Really look at it and don’t stop until you know you could describe it in every detail to a friend.
- Close your eyes for a few minutes and see how many things in your environment you can hear.
